WHO?

Born in 1995 in the city of Canton in south China, Qizhen TANG is currently a student of the Post-professional Master of Architecture (M.arch II) program at Yale School of Architecture. Prior to pursuing his professional degree at Yale, Qizhen studied architecture in School of Architecture, Tsinghua University (Beijing) for six years and holds the "4+2" Joint Degree of Bachelor and Master of Architecture. Qizhen focuses on public architecture and urbanism in the high-density metropolitan areas and sees himself as an observer of events and incidents occurring in urban spaces in which rationality intermingles with chaos, and has always been interested in how architects could participate in such evolution. In his study and future career, Qizhen would continuously explore into topics including analyses on and design interpretations of rapid space alterations, time-related complexity of lands, spaces of indigeneity and their responses to top-down urbanization, and the diachronic superimposition of formal and informal space history in global metropolises as a professional architect and urban designer.
