Hydrology and Environmental Modeling Laboratory

Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center, University of Maryland

Our research emphasizes uncovering the interconnections between climate, landscape, and hydrological and biogeochemical processes of complex ecosystem systems using physical, mathematical, and biological modeling as well as machine learning approaches.

Specifically, our research team is focused primarily on:

1) developing improved representations of physical/biogeochemical processes (e.g., C/N/P and chemicals) in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems;

2) integrating field observation, remote sensing data, and watershed/regional models to advance numerical simulations of ecosystems;

3) applying physical/machine-learning-based models to tackle challenging environmental and practical problems.
