Qianwen(Vivian) Guo

Dr. Qianwen (Vivian) Guo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. She also serves as Associate Director of the U.S. Department of Transportation–funded research center, Advancing Community-Centric Transportation Systems (ACTS). She is also the faculty advisor of ITE Student Chapter. Her research focuses on transportation systems optimization, with particular emphasis on public transit, shared mobility, transportation resilience, and transportation economics.

Dr. Guo is a member of the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Transit Management (AP011). She has published more than 32 peer-reviewed journal articles as first or corresponding author across a broad range of transportation topics in leading journals, including the Journal of Air Transport Management and Transportation Research Parts A, B, and C. Her research on leveraging shared autonomous vehicles to enhance disaster evacuation received the 2025 Best Paper Award from the Journal of Infrastructure Preservation and Resilience. She was also recognized as a winner of the INRIX–MetroLab Challenge in two consecutive years. In 2025, her study, “Control for Transit Services in Disaster Evacuations Using a Hawkes-Based Jump-Diffusion Process,” received the award, followed in 2026 by her study, “Empirical and Predictive Modeling of Network-Level Resilience under Hurricane-Fueled Wildfire Risk: An INRIX-Based Empirical Study in Florida.”

Dr. Guo has served as Principal Investigator (PI) and Site PI on multiple federally and state-funded research projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation, Florida Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Transportation, and U.S. Department of Agriculture. Collectively, these projects represent approximately $5.1 million in total project value, including approximately $2.4 million in projects for which she serves as PI or Site PI.

In recognition of her research accomplishments and emerging leadership in engineering, Dr. Guo was named a 2026 Engineering Rising Star by the Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine of Florida (ASEMFL).
