A series of public lectures held by:
Alena Šolcová: "Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy of Old Town of Prague"
The mathematical model of the astronomical clock of Prague was developed by the professor of Prague University, Joannes Andreae, called Sindel. It was realized by Mikulas from Kadan around 1410. We will explain: What mathematics is hidden behind the astronomical clock and how to measure 4 different times with help of clock.
Francesca Arici: "Welcome to the grand Hilbert hotel"
Shahn Majid: "CoSchroedinger’s cat: from quantum groups to quantum gravity"
De Morgan duality interchanges a set with its complement and is a symmetry of Logic, for example swapping `everything’ with `nothing'. We explain how this was recently extended to graphs using noncommutative geometry and speculate on what this might mean for quantum gravity. We also highlight intriguing parallels between quantum gravity and quantum computing.
will happen at 19:30 on the 12.09.2023 at the Scout Institute, Staroměstské námesti 1/4, Staré Město.
At the end of it there will be an audiovisual exhibition curated by Michela Lapenna.
