About

My name is Quinn Fitzsimmons and I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. From a young age I was very interested in art. It began with weaving when my grandma taught me on her loom. I grew to love weaving, sewing, felting, and drawing. I began to draw buildings, from basic interior sketches to entire floor plans. I took an architecture class in high school to further my knowledge.

As I continued to experiment with different art forms,  sewing once again became my main interest. I took a sewing class at the Parsons pre-college program, which is where I realized I wanted to go to an art university. SCAD checked off all the boxes, so I went with the intention of majoring in Fashion Design.

The summer prior to college, I took a trip to Europe with my friends. A good friend of mine lent me his camera for the trip. This was the start of the development of my passion. I took photos of architecture, landscapes, and people, and I got addicted. It slowly became something I would do everywhere I went. I began to photograph the locals of Savannah, GA. I learned how to use the darkroom on my own and was amazed by the whole process.

Over the summer of 2024, I interned at a photography gallery in NYC, spending my free time photographing all over Manhattan and Brooklyn on a cheap Canon Powershot. I no longer had interest in fashion, I was now fully invested in photography. My dad gave me his old DSLR and a Nikon film camera and I began shooting everywhere and everything in Savannah, GA. After getting great recommendations from my first photography class professor, I secured a position as a freelance photographer at the Savannah Morning News. I am a Sophomore at SCAD now, and I am always searching for the next interesting scene to photography.
