Anytime you spot an animal (or evidence of one, such as feathers, scat, tracks, fur, habitat disruption, etc.) you can add it to our online database. We use EpiCollect5, a free app and website, where you can also see the data recorded by everyone else. Your observations are also added to the international iNaturalist database, used for science and conservation projects all around the world! Visit the step-by-step page for instructions.
Everyone! While we originally created this as a hands on experience for school aged kids, we invite nature lovers of all ages to participate.
We wanted to create a community science project that deepens the connection between people and the animals and nature around them, increases awareness of local conservation issues, and fosters a curiosity for science and the natural world. This project was created through the Conservation Training Partnerships, a part of UConn's Natural Resources Conservation Academy.
