Welcome to the quantum chemistry group at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, led by Prof. Lucas Visscher. We are a diverse and international group of chemists and physicists, developing novel theoretical approaches rooted in first-principles quantum chemical methods, including (relativistic) coupled cluster methods, many-body perturbation theory based on Green's functions, and multi-reference approaches. A central part of our work is the development of embedding techniques that allow us to bring quantum-mechanical insight to large and complex systems relevant to photochemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, and more. Here, we also leverage the potential of quantum-classical algorithms that combine classical quantum chemical methods with quantum algorithms on quantum computers.Â
