The Queens College Student Chapter of the Society of American Archivists serves students who are interested in pursuing careers in archives, the preservation of cultural materials, and records management through planning and sponsoring various professional and social programs.

QCSAA Archives Career Panel

Please join QCSAA on November 30th at 7 PM for a careers panel discussion and Q&A! Archivist speakers will share advice and tips for resume building, cover letter writing, and the job interview process. Each brings experience not only in successfully applying to archives-related jobs but also in hiring for those positions. Our speakers come from varied areas of the field including public library, corporate, and radio archives.

Bridget's Retirement Party

Bridget Kavanaugh will be retiring at the end of this year after many years of service to QC GSLIS. The department is throwing a party in her honor on December 15th from 5:30 to 7 PM at Lecture Hall 230 in the Rosenthal Library! The UK Migrated Archives: Wiki-Edit-Athon 

CCARMS Workshop #4 - Wiki-Edit-Athon on Wednesday, November 9th at 10 AM EST is where we hope you'll help us set historical records right by editing Wikipedia pages on Migrated Archives. QCSAA students are invited to join the workshop and editing virtually! Registration information is pending.

QCSAA Field Trip: Off the Record at the Guggenheim Museum

Sunday, September 12th from 12-3pm

Join QCSAA next weekend for a field trip to see Off the Record at the Guggenheim, a group exhibition featuring the work of contemporary artists who challenge the authority of mainstream documentation practices and question their role in constructing history.

Introduction to Book Conservation Workshop

Thursday, May 27, 2021 1–5pm 


This virtual lecture/workshop will consist of an introduction to book conservation, including an overview of materials and tools, book terminology and examples of common preservation and conservation issues.  Participants will learn about the balance between conserving and restoring bound items of historical value.  The class will end with multiple hands-on repair techniques.
