[🔊] 165 - What is to be Said Upon Seeing the New Moon

اللهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْيُمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلامَةِ وَالْإِسْلامِ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللهُ

“O Allaah, we implore You to show us every new moon while we are in a state of happiness along with inward acceptance of the truth from You, as well as a state of protection along with outward submission to You.” The Prophet (may Allaah mention him with commendation and grant him protection) would then address the moon and say, “My Lord and your Lord is Allaah.”

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ، وَالتَّوْفِيقِ لِمَا تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضَى، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ

“Allaah is the Greatest. O Allaah, we implore You to show us every new moon while we are in a state of security along with inward acceptance of the truth from You, a state of protection along with outward submission to You, and a state of having special assistance from You so that we can accomplish what You love and are pleased with.” The Prophet (may Allaah mention him with commendation and grant him protection) would then address the moon and say, “My Lord and your Lord is Allaah.”

رَبِّ أَعِنِّي وَلَا تُعِنْ عَلَيَّ، وَانْصُرْنِي وَلَا تَنْصُرْ عَلَيَّ، وَامْكُرْ لِي وَلَا تَمْكُرْ عَلَيَّ، وَاهْدِنِي وَيَسِّرْ هُدَايَ إِلَيَّ، وَانْصُرْنِي عَلَى مَنْ بَغَى عَلَيَّ، اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي لَكَ شَاكِرًا، لَكَ ذَاكِرًا، لَكَ رَاهِبًا، لَكَ مِطْوَاعًا، لَكَ مُخْبِتًا، إِلَيْكَ أَوَّاهًا مُنِيبًا، رَبِّ تَقَبَّلْ تَوْبَتِي، وَاغْسِلْ حَوْبَتِي، وَأَجِبْ دَعْوَتِي، وَثَبِّتْ حُجَّتِي، وَاهْدِ قَلْبِي، وَسَدِّدْ لِسَانِي، وَاسْلُلْ سَخِيمَةَ صَدْرِي

“My Lord, assist me and do not assist against me, grant me victory and do not grant victory over me, plot in my favour and do not plot against me, guide me and facilitate the means to guidance for me, and grant me victory over those who have transgressed against me. O Allaah, make me someone who is grateful to You, mentions You, has reverential fear of You, obeys You much, is humble towards You, repents to You, and returns to You in all matters. My Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sins, respond to my call, establish my proof firmly, guide my heart, set my tongue right, and remove rancour from within my chest.”
