Privacy Policy for Qalamly

Qalamly ("we", "our", or "us") built the Qalamly app as a free app. This policy explains how we handle your data and your privacy rights.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Qalamly itself does not collect or store personal information on our own servers. The app has two separate parts with different data handling:

1. AI STUDY TOOLS (Report generator, Homework helper, Language learning, Quiz/Flashcard generator, etc.) — see AI DATA SHARING below.

2. QALAMLY CAMPUS (optional school  & university portal) — see QALAMLY CAMPUS section below.

API KEY

Your Gemini API key is entered by you and stored only on your device using secure local storage. It is never transmitted to our servers or shared with anyone, including Qalamly.

AI DATA SHARING

When you use AI features in Qalamly, the following data is sent to Google Gemini AI for processing:

• Your homework questions and text inputs

• Document content you choose to scan or upload

• Language learning requests and prompts

• Report and seminar topics you enter

• Grammar check and synonym search inputs

This data is sent only when you actively use an AI feature. It is processed by Google LLC and subject to Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

We do not store, sell, or share this data. Qalamly has no access to what Google processes. Users are informed of this before using any AI feature and must explicitly tap "I Understand, Continue" to agree before any data is sent.

QALAMLY CAMPUS

Qalamly Campus is an optional school portal inside the app that lets students and parents view school records (attendance, grades, homework, class schedule, and announcements) provided by their school's Qalamly Campus system.

• Login credentials (Institution ID, email, and password) are issued to you by your school — Qalamly Campus has no signup or account-creation flow inside the app, and users do not enter or create any new personal data.

• When you sign in, your credentials are sent securely to the Qalamly Campus backend server for authentication. They are not sent to Google Gemini AI or any other third party.

• After signing in, the app displays school records belonging to you (or, for a parent account, your linked child/children) as provided by your school. This may include the student's name, attendance history, grades, homework assignments, and any file attachments a teacher has added to an assignment.

• Your session is kept signed in using a secure access token stored only on your device (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain via secure local storage). You can sign out at any time from the profile menu.

• Qalamly Campus data belongs to your school and is managed under your school's own data policies. We act only as the technical means for you to view it.

THIRD PARTY SERVICES

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Gemini AI (AI content generation) — https://policies.google.com/privacy

• Qalamly Campus backend (school portal data) — operated by RuyaCode

• Cloudflare R2 (file storage for app images and school-provided homework attachments) — https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

• flutter_local_notifications (local notifications only — no data collected)

DATA STORAGE

Documents, flashcards, notes, and planner events you create using the AI study tools are stored locally on your device only. We have no access to this content.

Qalamly Campus records (attendance, grades, homework, etc.) are stored on your school's Qalamly Campus system and fetched by the app each time you view them — they are not stored permanently on your device beyond normal app caching.

PERMISSIONS

Qalamly requests the following permissions:

• Camera — for scanning homework documents and questions using your device camera

• Microphone — for voice input in language learning lessons and conversation practice

• Notifications — for daily study reminders at your chosen time

All permissions are optional. You can use the app without granting them. Permissions are only used for the specific features described above and never for tracking or advertising purposes.

CHILDREN

The AI study tools are designed for university and school students and do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Qalamly Campus is different: it may display school records belonging to students of any age, including children under 13, to that student or their parent/guardian. This data is provided by the school, not entered or collected by us, and is only shown to the account it belongs to (the student themselves, or their linked parent/guardian). We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than displaying it to the parent/student it belongs to.

YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to:

• Know what data is processed about you

• Request deletion of any locally stored AI-tool data by uninstalling the app

• Request access to or correction of your Qalamly Campus records through your school (we do not control this data — your school does)

• Revoke any permission at any time in your device settings

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page.
