Biography


Suha Al-Madbouh is a Palestinian-German health and environmental scientist. She was born in Jerusalem and raised in Bethlehem. She is a senior researcher and lecturer at Cologne University of Applied Sciences/ Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT), Germany. She received the degree of Doctor of Public Health (Dr.PH) from Bielefeld University, Germany, and obtained her masters’ degree in Environmental Sciences from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon.

Since 2017, Al-Madbouh has established the Palestinian-German research collaboration profile for the first time at the ITT through conducting research projects joining the ITT in partnership with Palestinian universities and governmental organizations, and coordinating a team of scholars from both countries. Her research targets mainly the Palestinian communities and focuses on institutional frameworks and social and health perspectives associated with water, wastewater, and wastewater reuse; public participation in waste(water) management; and impacts of climate change on the livelihood and well-being of farming communities. She has received four scholarships, two fellowships, and four research grants.

Al-Madbouh is also a trainer in the subject of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and has conducted several SEA training courses in Palestine, Jordan, and Germany. Previously, she worked as a coordinator of different health and environmental projects implemented in the West Bank by Al-Quds University, Doctors of the World (MDM)-Greece, Ramallah Municipality, the United Nation Development Program (UNDP), and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS).
