INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy applies to the “CGPWD” mobile application (Package Name: com.chips.cgpwd).
CGPWD is developed and published on Google Play by CHiPS (Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society), a Government of Chhattisgarh organization, for the Public Works Department, Government of Chhattisgarh.
In this Privacy Policy, “CGPWD”, “Application”, “App”, “CHiPS”, “PWD Chhattisgarh”, “we”, “our”, and “us” refer to the Application and the organizations responsible for its development, publication, and operation.
The Application is intended for authorized engineers, field personnel, officials, and other approved users. It is used for infrastructure project monitoring, departmental asset management, field inspections, geo-tagged photography, work-progress monitoring, and reporting.
By accessing or using CGPWD, users acknowledge the data-handling practices described in this Privacy Policy.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
The information collected depends on the user’s role and the features used within the Application.
2.1 Login and Authentication Information
Users must log in to access the Application. User accounts are created and managed by authorized department administrators.
The Application processes the user ID or username and authentication information required to verify the user and provide role-based access.
The Application does not collect or store the user’s name, mobile number, email address, or designation as part of the mobile application’s login process.
Authorized administrators may create, approve, modify, suspend, or remove user accounts.
2.2 Location Information
The Application may collect precise or approximate location information using the device’s GPS.
Location access is used to:
• Record the location of infrastructure projects and assets
• Capture geo-tagged inspection photographs
• Verify field visits and site inspections
• Maintain accurate project and asset location records
• Support project monitoring and reporting activities
Location is accessed only when the user actively uses a feature that requires it.
CGPWD does not continuously track or collect the user’s location while the Application is running in the background or is closed.
2.3 Camera and Photographs
The Application may request access to the device camera to:
• Capture infrastructure and project photographs
• Record site conditions
• Upload inspection evidence
• Document work progress
• Maintain geo-tagged project and asset records
Photographs captured using the device camera may be uploaded to authorized department servers along with associated project, inspection, date, time, and location information.
CGPWD does not provide a feature to select photographs from the device gallery.
The Application does not access the camera without the user’s action and permission.
2.4 Project, Work, Asset, and Inspection Information
Authorized users may submit official information including:
• Project and work details
• Infrastructure asset information
• Work progress and current status
• Inspection observations
• Site photographs
• GPS coordinates
• Project documents and records
• Administrative and technical details
• Contractor and work-related information
• Reports, comments, and field updates
This information is processed for official project monitoring, asset management, inspection, reporting, and administrative purposes.
2.5 Device and Technical Information
The Application may process limited device and technical information required for security, compatibility, troubleshooting, and reliable operation, including:
• Device model
• Device type
• Android or operating-system version
• Application version
• IP address and server access information
• Login date and time
• Network and synchronization status
This information is not used for advertising or user profiling.
PERMISSIONS USED BY THE APPLICATION
The Application may request the following permissions:
3.1 Location Permission
Precise and approximate location permissions are used to capture project locations, asset locations, inspection locations, and geo-tagged field information.
Location is accessed only while the user actively uses a feature requiring location. Background location tracking is not performed.
3.2 Camera Permission
Camera permission is used to capture photographs of projects, works, assets, and inspection sites.
The camera is activated only after an authorized user selects a feature requiring a photograph.
3.3 Internet and Network Access
Internet access is used for:
• User authentication

• Uploading project and inspection information
• Uploading captured photographs
• Downloading authorized records
• Communication with departmental servers
• Report-related operations
The Application does not request notification permission or general photos and media permission in its current version.
Users may manage permissions through their device settings. Disabling a required permission may prevent the related feature from functioning correctly.

Information processed through the Application may be used to:

CHiPS and PWD Chhattisgarh do not sell or rent users’ personal information to advertisers or other third parties.

Information may be stored on departmental, government-approved, or authorized server infrastructure.

CGPWD is intended only for authorized government officials, engineers, employees, contractors, and approved field personnel.
The Application is not intended for children under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
If information relating to a child is identified as having been collected unintentionally, appropriate steps will be taken to review and delete it, subject to applicable requirements.
