Navigation can be hard enough when you only have 25% of your vision. Now add the desire to be a photographer into that equation and it gets even more unpredictable. Perfectly Impaired guides the viewer through my journey of being a disabled photographer by utilizing alternative processes, videography, and digital photography. The use of unpredictable processes draws a parallel to having a disability. In my journey of having a visual impairment and being disabled, there have been many times when things didn’t go as planned, much like the concept of creating alternative process photography.
Perfectly Impaired delves deep into my mind and splays it out on a platter for you, the viewer, to feast upon and pick apart. Every imperfection, mistake, and mishap within each piece of work allows you to reflect on the process that went into the making of the image itself, inviting you to experience the inner workings of my mindscape while also highlighting my disability. My work has revealed that even while having a disability, I still have the ability to create inspiring art.
