The Association originated in 1954 as the Schwenksville Scholarship Fund, which made small outright grants to Schwenksville High School seniors. In 1964, the grants were replaced by interest-free loans. When the Perkiomen Valley School District was formed in 1969, the Fund continued as the Perkiomen Valley Student Loan Fund and was made available to both seniors and graduates of the Perkiomen Valley High School. In 1984, the Fund was incorporated and became the Perkiomen Valley Student Loan Association, Inc.
