Middle School Art Curriculum
The Middle School art curriculum is centered around the Four Domains of Art;
History (Time periods, styles, artists)
Aesthetics (How something visually appeals or does not appeal to the viewer)
Criticism (Forming interpretations and evaluations of art)
Studio (Production/ making art)
Students are expected to read, write, discuss and reflect about their personal art, their peers' art, and working artists of the past and present. They are encouraged to produce art showing growth or mastery as they move from 6th grade to 8th grade.
UNITS AND PROJECTS:
6th Grade- Elements & Principles of Art, Motifs, Symbolism, Graphics
7th Grade- Two-Point Perspective, Color Theory, Still-Life
8th Grade- Slab Construction in Clay, Abstraction, Conceptual Art
CLASS EXPECTATIONS
1. Always try your best. Challenge yourself to improve. Grades are based on effort.
2. Complete your projects.
3. Turn your projects/assignments into the teacher on time.
4. Check grades weekly on Synergy.
5. Communicate with your teacher.
