How This Page Almost Didn't Exist
A quick note on the DIY ethos...
They say building out a van takes patience. Turns out, setting up a "simple" website to log the build takes even more!
What was supposed to be a quick 5-minute site setup turned into a full 72-hour-plus marathon featuring:
A Google Sites editor refusing to clear the "Unpublished" barrier.
Image cropping wars and header layout nightmares.
Creating and getting a GIF to work as intended
Number of images taken looking for the right header - trips backwards and forwards to the dealer - to take more
A whole lot of swearing, cussing, and wondering "WTF am I doing this myself when there are plenty of freelancers out there waiting for the instruction?"
Didn't really want https://sites.google.com/view/pv5wandering/home ... bit naff IMO ... You're welcome to remember it if you really want to
Deciphering custom URL shorteners to get a link that didn’t read like an encrypted password #@_£U$%R$&*L
More than a few hours later ...
Keep at it, and you WILL get there in the end ... I persevered and FINALLY got what I wanted all along ... My own Domain working as intended ... https://www.pv5wandering.co.uk/and the shortcut works pv5wandering.co.uk 😀
The moral of the story ? Doing it yourself—whether it’s joinery, van wiring, fitting solar panels or web design—is usually cheaper, occasionally infuriating, but always worth it when you finally get there, pat yourself on the back, and say: "Job well done—I'm well chuffed with that."
Thanks for dropping by. After watching the BreakFree video next, check out the Walkaround video below it, and stay tuned for the actual build and adventure once it is FREE to wander !
You could say PV5wondering when it will have done its time and eventually get out
