​I'm a PhD in the Applied Science student studying Computational Biology. I am broadly interested in the effects of climate change on agriculture, and hope to one day apply my skills in the development of crops with drought and salinity resistance. 

I am a new MS student studying taro (Colocasia esculenta) soil and leaf microbiome. I am interested in how the microbiome affects nutrient uptake, and their association with different varieties.

Hi! My name is Olivia Cunningham (Class 2025). I'm a biology and environmental science double major minor. I am working on my honors thesis investigating the mechanisms behind milkweed hybridization in Wintergreen VA.

My name is Bela and I am majoring in biology and environmental science. I am interested in how we can apply plant ecology and genetics to complex problems like conservation and agriculture.

My name is Alexander and I’m majoring in Biology. I’m interested in population ecology and genetics, and I am working on surveying the College Woods to establish a baseline of macrofungal diversity.

I am an M.S. student broadly interested in the intersection of evolutionary and ecological processes. I studied both plant phylogenetics and plant ecology before this program and found that my passion was in finding where the two fields meet. I currently work on questions related to the evolution of novel traits in hybrids and patterns of speciation in polyploids.

Hi! I’m Lizzy, class of 2022, and I’m majoring in biology and minoring in philosophy. I joined the Puzey lab the spring of my freshman year and was quickly swept up in a love of plants!

Hi, my name is Hannah Call.  I’m majoring in biology and minoring in public health.  I am interested in genetics and evolution.  After college, I plan to become a family practice doctor.  Outside of lab, I am a part of the botany club and the knitting club.
