Mark Puterbaugh currently works as a Reference Librarian at the Paul Robeson Library, Rutgers University- Camden, New Jersey. His previous experience in higher education was serving as the Information Services Librarian at Eastern University and as Office Systems Administrator at the University of Pennsylvania. He has researched the use of a variety of technologies to enhance instruction in higher education. These technologies include the use of the web, virtual social worlds, social media, and digital badges.
Early work at the University of Pennsylvania brought some of the very first web-based instructional materials to the School of Dental Medicine. Online courseware supported classwork in pathology, histology and board reviews.
In addition to his work as the library system administrator and webmaster, Mark's work at Eastern University saw the development of a virtual social world to support information literacy for nursing students, an online library research course for graduate business students and information literacy tutorials for incoming freshmen.
