Dr. Pushpita Chatterjee joined Meharry Medical College in August 2024 as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the School of Applied Computational Sciences. She is dedicated to advancing research in secure, trusted, and resilient distributed computing through cutting-edge and intelligent technologies for cyber-physical systems, with a focus on fintech and smart healthcare.
Dr. Chatterjee earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India, in 2012. She has gained postdoctoral experience at Howard University, DC; Tennessee State University, TN; and Old Dominion University, VA. From 2012 to 2016, she worked as a Solution Architect and Senior Research Lead at SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Bangalore, India, a unit of SRM University, Chennai. During this time, she collaborated with NEC Japan and NTT Japan on software-defined networking projects.
Dr. Chatterjee has authored over 80 publications, garnering more than 1,730 citations in top-tier international journals, conferences, and books. She is an active reviewer for IEEE Transactions, Springer, and Elsevier journals, and she regularly organizes workshops for tier-1 conferences. Her research interests include cybersecurity, machine learning, distributed and trusted computing, wireless networks, and software-defined networking.
Currently, she is editing two books with Springer Science and CRC Press in the fields of cybersecurity and machine learning. She has also guest-edited special issues with TechScience (2021), Wiley WCMC (2022), Elsevier's Computer and Electrical Engineering (2022-23), MDPI's Sustainability (2023), and IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics (2023-24). Dr. Chatterjee is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of ACM.
