King Jack Park is a great place for photos at any time of the day! There are many location options from the bridge, to the walking paths beside the creek. You can even feed the geese here! This is a BUSY park as the Farmers Market meets here on the weekends and the splash pad is running through the summer. There is plenty of room to accommodate many people, but there may be pauses to wait for passersby while at King Jack Park.
Get high above the trees and the creek, while still featuring them, for some jaw dropping photos on Bluff Creek Trail. This trail is perfect for Senior Sessions, Engagement Sessions, and Family Sessions of 6 or less people. Parents be aware that this is THE EDGE of a very high CLIFF so young children will need to be held or holding a hand most if not all of the time.
This is one of my favorite places and is perfect for those of you, like me, who are ready for an adventure!
Wildcat Glades is a beautiful location and bursting with life from Spring to Fall. If you're looking for a more secluded feeling, this is the place to go! There are walking trails both paved and unpaved, beautiful plant life, and the large creek. I recommend this location for couples, seniors, and single family units without any mobility issues as there is quite a bit of walking required at
Wildcat Glades
Morse Park is a great choice for any type of session and there are beautiful places to photograph all day long. This location really has EVERYTHING: Open fields, trees, paths, a bridge, the creek which you can wade in on a warm day, and trees to climb if you'd like! There is plenty of room to accommodate many people, but there may be pauses to wait for passersby while at Morse Park
This is a beautiful, tiny little park across from Dover Hill Elementary which I have lovingly named Dover Hill Park (even though it doesn't seem to have a name on any maps!) with walking trails, young trees, and lots of beautiful areas for sessions of all sizes! This is a great location for those who are not as mobile and would like to park near the photo areas and it consists of generally flat grassy areas with a few trails throughout making it very easy to traverse.
On the edge of Dover Hill Elementary there is this BEAUTIFUL area overlooking some of the oldest neighborhoods in Joplin with those gorgeous old trees!
There are some things to consider when choosing this location:
It is on school property and therefore is only available after 4pm or on weekends.
It is on a steep hill which makes it unsuitable for anyone in wheelchairs, on crutches, or with limited mobility of some kind.
This location is only beautiful when the trees have leaves on them.
Center Creek Park is a lovely place with beautiful old trees, a creek, cement picnic areas, and gravel walking trails. This location is great for anyone looking for green photos in the Spring and Summer, but is rather unpredictable in the Fall. If you are looking to park close to where you're going to be photographed, with the option of walking further, this is a fantastic option for you!
The grounds around Racine Christian Church are drop dead gorgeous! If you're looking for Sound of Music type vistas, look no further! This is a HUGE space and will accommodate any number of people!
This location is on private property and I will need to get permission for your session date and time as the church does use these areas for events. If you would like to book your session here, please book at least 6 weeks in advance and be flexible in case we need to adjust due to the Church's schedule.
Sessions located Downtown Joplin are always an adventure! I like to meet around 4th or 5th street at a predetermined specific location, depending on what is happening downtown, and then walk to a few locations along Main Street. Downtown sessions are amazing for seniors, engagements, couples, and families! There's many different setting options downtown from the street to the walls of various buildings! The great thing about downtown is you get many locations in one!
You are always welcome to request another location altogether! Some of my clients want to show off their property, their school, or a place that is near and dear to their stories and I am here for it! If you would like to have your session in a location of your choice, please keep these things in mind:
It may cost an additional fee depending on location to cover gas.
If it is privately owned property that is not owned by you, we will need permission from the owners in writing to be on a third party’s property.
The time of day matters. Generally we will keep the sun behind you during the session or we will find open shade where possible. In some locations, this matters as you may have something in mind to have in the background of your photos. When planning the time for your session, we will think about where the sun will be in relation to that area.
Communication is key! Make sure to let me know where you want to go and what is special about that place. I love listening to the stories, and it helps me know what is important to you about where we are going!
