Overview

PureScan is a document scanner app built on a simple principle: your documents are yours. This privacy policy explains exactly what data PureScan does and does not collect.

What PureScan Does Not Do

•        Does not collect any personal information

•        Does not transmit any data to any server

•        Does not use analytics or tracking of any kind

•        Does not display advertisements

•        Does not require an account or sign-in

•        Does not share any data with third parties

•        Does not back up your documents to the cloud

What PureScan Does

PureScan processes everything entirely on your device:

•        Camera — used solely to capture document scans. Images are saved locally to your device's private storage and are never transmitted anywhere.

•        Storage — used to save scanned documents and exported files to your device. Files are stored in app-private storage unless you explicitly choose to export them to a folder of your choosing.

•        Text recognition (OCR) — performed entirely on-device using Google ML Kit. No image or text data leaves your device during this process.

Permissions

PureScan requests only the permissions it needs:

•        Camera — required to scan documents

•        Storage — required on Android 9 and below to save exported files

No other permissions are requested or used.

Your Data

All scanned documents, extracted text, and app settings are stored locally on your device in private app storage. This data:

•        Is never uploaded or transmitted

•        Is deleted when you uninstall the app or manually delete documents within the app

•        Is not included in cloud backups (Google Backup is explicitly disabled for scan data)

•        Can be transferred to a new device only via device-to-device transfer (not cloud backup)

Third-Party Services

PureScan uses the following on-device libraries:

•        Google ML Kit (Text Recognition, Document Scanner) — processing happens entirely on-device. No data is sent to Google servers during scanning or OCR.

No other third-party services, SDKs, or analytics tools are used.

Children’s Privacy

PureScan does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. As no data is collected at all, PureScan is safe for use by anyone.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated policy will be made available on this page with a revised date. As PureScan collects no data, any changes are unlikely to affect your privacy in any meaningful way.
