Pure Blocker helps you avoid adult content. It is built and run by Raghav Sharma, an individual (“we”, “us”). Questions: pureblocker.app@gmail.com
The short version: everything that decides what to block happens on your phone. We never see what is on your screen, and we never receive your screenshots, your journal, or the pages and apps you visit.
Screen content. With your permission, Pure Blocker uses Android’s Accessibility service to read text on screen, only inside the apps you choose to monitor. The text is compared with your keyword list on the device and is not stored or sent anywhere.
Image scanning (optional, Premium). If you are a Premium subscriber and turn on Image scanning, Google Play downloads a one-time pack of two small models (about 11 MB) to your phone. The download is handled by Google Play and contains no data about you. After that, the accessibility service takes a screenshot of a monitored app and checks the pictures with those two models, which are stored on your phone. The screenshot is processed in memory and discarded straight away. It is never saved, uploaded, or shared. The check works without an internet connection.
Your setup and history. Keywords, monitored apps, block history, streaks, countdown and block-screen settings, and your urge journal (mood, trigger, app, note) are stored in the app’s private storage on your phone.
Password protection. Your password (PIN) is stored only as a hash on your device.
Commitment Lock (optional, Premium). If you turn it on, Pure Blocker becomes a device administrator so Android itself blocks uninstalling or force-stopping it. A small foreground service uses Android’s Usage Access permission to notice when you open the screen that would switch this off, and then asks for your password. It only checks which screen is in front, on the device. It does not read what is on that screen and sends nothing anywhere. It restarts after a reboot or app update so the lock stays on. You can turn the lock off at any time with your password.
Notifications, overlay and battery setting. Used to remind you, to show the block screen over other apps, and to keep protection running in the background. Nothing from them is collected.
Backup file. Local backup saves your settings to a file you choose. We do not receive it. If you keep that file in a service such as Google Drive, that service’s own policy applies.
Account details (name, email address, profile photo, account ID): if you sign in with Google, to run your account and Community. Handled by Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication.
Community posts, comments, reactions and reports (the text you write, your display name and photo, timestamps, whether you have Premium): if you use Community, to show them to other users. Posts are public inside the app. Stored in Firebase Firestore.
Keyword packs: downloaded from Firebase Firestore when you add packs. Nothing about you is sent.
Usage events such as app open, permissions granted, onboarding finished, a trigger was caught, streak milestone, breathing exercise started or finished, whether an urge was resisted, paywall or ad shown, purchase started. Device and app-version details are attached by Firebase. This is used to find and fix problems and improve the app. Events never include your mood, trigger, notes, the names of the apps you monitor (only how many), or anything you were viewing. Handled by Firebase Analytics.
Push notification token: if you allow notifications, so we can send them. Handled by Firebase Cloud Messaging.
Advertising ID and ad interaction data: if you use the free version, to show ads, including optional rewarded ads that unlock the custom countdown and block screen for 72 hours. Handled by Google AdMob.
Purchase status: if you subscribe, to unlock Premium. We do not see your card details. Handled by Google Play Billing.
Image-scanner model download: when a Premium user first turns on Image scanning. No images or personal data are sent. Handled by Google Play (Play Asset Delivery).
Cloud backup to your Google account is not offered in the current version. If it returns we will update this policy first.
These service providers process data under their own privacy policies (policies.google.com/privacy and firebase.google.com/support/privacy). We do not sell your personal information.
The text or images on your screen, your screenshots, your browsing or app history, the contents of your journal, your contacts, your location, or your files.
We share data only with the providers listed above so the app can work, and when the law requires it. We may publish anonymous, combined statistics (for example, the average number of blocks per user).
Turn off Image scanning, the accessibility service, or notifications at any time in the app or in Android settings.
Turn off the Commitment Lock in the app with your password, then remove device administrator access in Android settings if you wish.
Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your phone.
Delete your Community posts and comments inside the app.
To have your account data or Community content removed from our servers, email pureblocker.app@gmail.com from the address on your account. We will act on it within 30 days.
You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your Android settings.
