The purpose of this program is to introduce undergraduates in Purdue's math program to advanced topics outside of the usual curriculum under the supervision of graduate students, postdocs, or faculty members. Mentors and mentees will be paired based on their interests, and together they will choose a textbook or paper to read through over the course of the semester, with the potential for research projects emerging from this.Â
Mentors should meet with their mentees for at least one hour per week, but meeting more often is encouraged! Mentees should expect to spend approximately 3-4 hours per week on their reading project on their own, whether this time is spent reading the material, working through problems, or preparing for the next meeting. At the end of the semester, the mentees will give a short presentation on the material.
