How Swachh Survekshan 2024 shows Pune's water bodies as 100% Clean? We have received the following response form the Government on 11/2/2025 in response to our RTI query dated 13/1/2025 reproduced at the end below:
1. A copy of the methodology, parameters, and indicators used in the survey to assess and rate the cleanliness of water bodies in Pune city, particularly its rivers.
Point (1): The survey was done as per prescribed SS2023 Toolkit which can be accessed at https://sbmurban.org/
2. If reports or assessments by PMC were considered, provide copies of the reports used.
Point(2): No such information is available with SBM Division MoHUA.
3. If third-party verification was carried out to validate the cleanliness claims, provide the name of the agency, verification reports, and findings related to Pune-s water bodies.
Point(3): The third party verification was done by Ipsos Research Private Limited. Swachh Survekshan Report is available in public domain and can be assessed on https://sbmurban.org/
4. Provide copies of internal communications, guidelines, or decisions regarding handling cases where local data e.g., PMC admitting pollution contradicts Swachh Survekshan findings.
Point(4): No such information is available with SBM Division MoHUA.
5. Kindly share the specific Swachh Survekshan assessment report for Pune city highlighting the rating of its water bodies and the justification for the 100 per-cent-clean status.
Point(5): Swachh Survekshan Report for all the cities is available in public domain and can be assessed on https://sbmurban.org/
6. Provide information on the mechanism available for citizens to raise concerns about anomalies or inaccuracies in Swachh Survekshan findings.
