Heroes (, Hr Tachi) are individuals who fight for justice against evil in the world. They protect civilians from harm against monsters, villains, natural disasters, and other threats. Most heroes are registered with the Hero Association and are divided into four classes with increasing prestige: C-Class, B-Class, A-Class and S-Class. Heroes are given number rankings within their respective classes.

S-Class (S, S-ky): The strongest and most prestigious class of the Hero Association. Every hero in the S-Class is equivalent to an emergency army division.[1] This class was originally created to gather individuals who, despite their low ranking, were capable of defeating disaster level Demon Mysterious Beings on their own.[2] The current highest-ranked S-Class hero is Blast. There used to be 17 heroes in this class.[3] Following Silver Fang, and Child Emperor's resignation, there are currently 15 heroes in this class, the lowest amount of members out of all the classes.

A-Class (A, A-ky): The second strongest class of the four classes. When a hero reaches Rank 1 in B-Class, they can climb up to A-Class. Heroes in this class are capable of defeating disaster level Tiger Mysterious beings alone[2] and are also considered very popular. The current highest-ranked A-Class hero is Sweet Mask. There were 38 heroes in this class before the Monster Association incident.[3] After said incident, Saitama was promoted to Rank 39 in this class, thus there are currently at least 39 heroes in the class.[4][5]

B-Class (B, B-ky): The third strongest class out of the four classes. When a hero reaches Rank 1 in C-Class, they can climb up to B-Class. Heroes in this class do not have to perform weekly heroic acts to fulfill any quotas,[6] and are also capable of defeating Wolf-level Mysterious Beings by themselves.[2] The current highest-ranked B-Class hero is Fubuki. There were 101 heroes in this class before Saitama's promotion to A-Class.[3]

C-Class (C, C-ky): The lowest and least strong class out of the four classes. Although C-Class heroes are the weakest, their strength exceeds that of an average person.[7] When a hero enters the association, they normally begin here.[8] C-Class heroes must perform weekly heroic acts to fulfill their quotas, otherwise they are removed from the Hero Registry.[9] The current highest-ranked C-Class hero is Mumen Rider. There are currently 390 heroes in this class, the most numerous out of all the classes.[3]

Unregistered heroes are often regarded as "weirdos" by the Hero Association and do not get any credits or mentions in any media even some of them are well-respected figures within society like the non-hero-association-affiliated members of Council of Swordmasters.[10] There are currently no known unregistered heroes, however, Saitama and Genos previously did unregistered hero work in the past. Often civilians will do and help heroes with hero work, like when Atomic Samurai asked for the help from the members of the Council of Swordmasters to defeat Garou, or Bomb helped Bang and Genos to fight against Garou, Elder Centipede and other Mysterious Beings from the Monster Association, and later save other defeated heroes.

There are mercenary service that deliver hero-like service for rich clients to protect their assets or do bodyguard works similar to how heroes are dispatched by Hero Associations or Neo Heroes to deal with threats or bodyguarding major sponsors.

Ā Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: After being told to "be with his own kind" Izuku has no illusions of being friends anymore with Bakugo and is willing to give some payback, especially when the other boy antagonizes his newfound friends. After noticing All Might just standing by in his skinny form, this sours Izuku on his former idol for a time. While things get better, Izuku never returns to his hero worship of the man. Aizawa becomes Izuku's father figure, with "problem child" being an affectionate nickname for Izuku, who becomes prone to calling him "Dad". Due to different first impressions, he never does get as close to Iida and Uraraka as he did in canon. His circle of friends instead is Shoji, Jiro, Tokoyami, and eventually Mina (after a rough start) and Todoroki (though his case is closer to canon). The two girls end up his girlfriends. In canon, Izuku's rather tolerant towards Mineta, but here quite the opposite due to his perverted antics. It gets worse regarding Jiro and Mina. Adaptational Attractiveness: Izuku's training has given him a rather muscular physique. Adaptational Badass: Izuku is easily stronger than canon and while he doesn't have One for All's other quirks, he's able to find ways to use his absurd strength and speed to hover and phase through things. All Might mentally reveals that even at his prime, he'd be no match for an unhindered Izuku. All Might still has One for All and avoids getting wounded by the Nomu. Due to training with Izuku, Jiro, Tokoyami, and Shoji learn some new tricks (Tokoyami learning Dark Fallen Angel early) or gotten physically stronger. Adaptational Early Appearance: A number of Class B members are shown in Chapter 1 as they find their targets in the entrance exam flattened in a flash. Crust appears in the Intership/Stain arc when he appears much later in the manga. Miruko appears in the Hero License exam when she originally appears much later. Adaptational Intelligence: As long as it's not pertaining to girls that like him, Izuku shows himself to be more perceptive than in canon and far less inclined to do self-destructive things. Kirishima has a few moments of showing that he's not just a punch happy guy, such as manipulating Izuku to be nicer, and in his term end practical exam, figures out a way to get around his opponent's quirk. Adaptational Jerkass: Izuku is a downplayed case as while he has rough edges his canon self doesn't, at heart he's still the same hero fanboy. Notably, most of his core friends and love interests persisted in befriending him in spite of that. Bakugo seems to have his worse traits become front and center as he's shown to be increasingly irritable and after two cases of excessively attacking a classmate (once during the sports festival beyond what's called for and the other against his own teammate), results in his expulsion from the school. Berserk Button: Izuku's is insulting/threatening those he cares about, though he's able to keep things in some control in the sports festival. Butt-Monkey: Mineta as his overly perverted antics often catch the ire of others, like Izuku. Aizawa is too happy to let the punishments happen. Monoma is another as his demeanor irks many with a case of him getting hit with some sort of explosive to have little complaint from anyone else and internal applause from Izuku and others. Chick Magnet: Izuku is one once he lets his nicer side show. A running gag in the story is how he seems to attract attention from older female heroes, like Midnight and Miruko. Crutch Character: Izuku's advice from Crust invokes this trope as he tells Izuku to only do as much to support his allies and let them grow than to instantly win the fight. Curb-Stomp Battle: A common occurrence given Izuku packing Saitama's absurd strength/speed. Some of his more notable ones being the entire Entrance Exam, the initial Nomu who spent most of its appearance being pummeled by Izuku. Death by Adaptation: All of the Wild Wild Pussycats are killed by Shigaraki during the Training Camp assault. For Want Of A Nail: The story starts with a blow up between Izuku and Bakugo that ends the friendship, and from there Izuku decides to use his new found free time to train. This changes many things about the early arcs. Izuku refuses One for All, wanting to show what a Quirkless person can do. Mirio isn't chosen because All Might thinks he smiles thoughtlessly (the hypocrisy of All Might of all people saying that is noted by Izuku). Izuku is chosen to find a suited successor, choosing Kirishima. Izuku gets the most offers from pros, but chooses Crust in part to go with his friends. Due to being under Crust's supervision and with permission to fight, Izuku, Todoroki, and Tokoyami get the credit for defeating Stain. This in turn leads the boys under Crust to take the adult Provisional Hero Exam, avoiding the canon arc. The practical term end exam is much differently due to both classes taking part and with some cases of mixed teams. The grand finale being Izuku with many weights on him up against not only the every teacher save Nezu, Recovery Girl and Lunch Rush, but also Mt Lady, Kamui Woods, and Death Arms. And the last part? All Might himself. Shigarakai is the one who has a terrifying encounter at the mall, courtesy of Izuku's Death Glare. The Gadfly: Izuku towards those he doesn't like, like Bakugo, whom in the initial heroes vs villains exercise, is subjected to an reenactment of Dio moving Polnareff down the stairs, complete with Dio impersonation. Gentle Giant: Shoji like in canon. It's demonstrated as in his match against Ibara, he simply carries her to the ring's edge and sets her down. Only reason he doesn't do so with Mina is because her quirk would make it a bad idea. Kick the Dog: While Bakugo's match against Uraraka isn't seen as this by Izuku and the others, the two cases where he attacks Shoji in an unwarranted situation is not viewed kindly by anyone, with the second resulting in his expulsion from UA. Mirror Character: Early on, it's noted that Izuku is in many ways, not so different than Bakugo, be it his seemingly irritable nature, not bothering with people's names, and combativeness. The comparison is even used by Kirishima to get Izuku to share information with class B more nicely. As the story progresses this ceases to be the case as Izuku smooths out most of his rough edges and actually learns his classmate's names. Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Shoji, evenually he's advised by Crust to get some weapons for those arms. Cue Hatsume making weapons with powerful secondary functions. The Nicknamer: Bakugo and Izuku, out of not caring about others' names. Izuku quickly drops this in regards to his classmates, but before learning a name, he will still mentally have a nickname for them. No-Sell: Izuku develops a phasing ability inspired by The Flash, and even without doing that, he's proven to be quite resilient. Refusal of the Call: By the time All Might offers Izuku One for All, Izuku has decided to instead show the world what a Quirkless person can do and refuses politely. True Companions: The Dekusquad (used in-unverse), composed of Izuku, Shoji, Tokoyami, Jiro and later on, Todoroki and Mina. During the sports fest's first two parts, they moved as a team to great effect. Worthy Opponent: Aizawa in his match against Kamakiri finds himself enjoying the fight, and the feeling seems mutual. This results in both being upset when Monoma ruins it by reaching the exit (having ran off at the start of the match) before a good conclusion was reached. ff782bc1db
