On January 29, 2025, the Seminar on Business Correspondence and Resume Workshop was successfully conducted at the Southern Leyte State University - MCC Audio-Visual Room (AVR), 3rd floor, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This seminar was organized to equip On-the-Job Training (OJT) 4th year students with essential knowledge and skills in professional communication and resume writing, crucial for their career advancement.
The program commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the Southern Leyte Hymn, setting a formal and patriotic tone for the event. Ms. Maria Welyn Baliña, the Master of Ceremony, warmly welcomed the participants and introduced the resource speaker, Ms. Juvenal Sumaya, MBA.
Ms. Sumaya, an expert in communication skills and career development, delivered an insightful discussion of why is a resume important as well as the discussion about what are to be included on a resume, clarity, and proper etiquette in written communication. She emphasized the significance of well-structured formal application letters, and also presented examples of a resume as well as application letter.
The second segment of the seminar focused on resume writing, where Ms. Sumaya provided practical guidance on crafting an effective resume. She explained the key components of a strong resume, including content organization, formatting, and tailoring information to match job requirements. She also shared tips on how to make resumes stand out in a competitive job market.
The OJT students actively engaged in the seminar by participating and making their own sample application letter, questions, making the session interactive and productive. The event concluded with a closing message, thanking Ms. Sumaya for her valuable insights and the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment to learning.
