Southern Leyte State University's (SLSU) Bachelor of Social Work (BSSW) program received positive feedback from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) during a recent accreditation survey.
The AACCUP recognized the program's strong foundation in academic excellence, institutional support, and adaptability to modern educational trends, particularly remote learning. However, the agency also identified areas for improvement. The improvements include expanding the library's e-book collection to meet the growing demand for online resources. AACCUP recommended increasing the number of e-books available in the library. Another enhancement incorporates fostering external library collaborations, where the agency suggested strengthening partnerships with other academic institutions to enhance access to specialized resources and learning materials. AACCUP also mentioned improving library facilities by adding more tables and chairs to accommodate the increasing number of students utilizing the library for study and research.
SLSU is committed to addressing these recommendations to further improve the quality of its BSSW program. By investing in additional resources, fostering collaborations, and improving library facilities, the university aims to create a more conducive learning environment for its students.
This accreditation milestone underscores SLSU's dedication to providing high-quality education and producing skilled social workers. By implementing the AACCUP's recommendations, the BSSW program can continue to thrive and equip its graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive impact on society.
