On January 23–24, 2025, Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus conducted a training workshop on Student Workload – Based Curriculum Planning Implementation with Authentic Assessment Integration. The said training workshop was held at the CD Conference Room with its initiative to align student workload with existing curriculum. It also targets implementing a strategic assessment integration in terms of applying theoretical knowledge to real-world realities, honing students to strive for excellence. The workshop officially commenced with an eloquent opening remark from our campus director, Dr. Frederick C. Aniga. His message underscores the efforts of the university in providing quality education to its students by nurturing a student-centered approach to learning.
The first session kicked off with specific topics: Conceptualizing Student Workload and Desk Estimation Exercise with Michael Malachy Dagami, IMEC Head, who took charge in imparting knowledge as the resource person. For the second session, Maria Risa Jean Pasculado, BPA Program Head, was responsible in discussing specific topics: Introduction to Course – Tiering Framework, and Course Tiering Exercise. Both sessions center on piloting a comprehensive overview of student workload-based curriculum planning.
The final session tackled specific topics: Input on Authentic Assessment and Authentic Assesment (Re) Development with Juvenal Flores-Sumaya as the resource person. This training workshop does not just benefit SLSU in meeting accreditation and simultaneously enhancing academic practice for students. This endeavor is anchored on SDG #4—Quality Education, which ensures students have inclusive and equitable integral quality education and promotes lifelong learning.
