A cold wind breeze swept the bustling Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus as the sun rose on March 3, 2025. This is because Paunhanay 2025 has finally arrived! This fun run not only promised the run for a dose of healthy exercise, but also the fun as the students that were once clad in pristine white soon became canvases of prism colors and laughter.
From seasoned runners to casual joggers, playful squeals and cheers for those who enjoyed the colors, and those who avoid being painted, rang through the roads of Maasin City. With bated breaths, they dashed through the familiar route: from the Sea Wall to the Mercury Drug Store, with refreshing waters available at every station.
As runners crossed the finish line, the once pristine students became a beautiful mess of hues in harmony. A burst of pink here and a splash of orange there, not only were their dresses became unrecognizable, their faces were no better. A kaleidoscope of colors erupted as participants grooved to the upbeat zumba music at the campus quadrangle.
But of course, this running won’t end with just sweats and wet dyed shirts. The excitement shifted to the top performers of this activity. Those who crossed the finish line ahead among others were recognized for their outstanding achievements.
