The SLSU Maasin City Campus's Supreme Student Council (SSC) student organizations, such as the JSWAP, CPAS, and Peer Facilitators Group, joined forces on November 13, 2024, to lead the Road Clean-Up Drive in Tunga-Tunga, Maasin City, Southern Leyte, as a community-driven project. The purpose of this event was to raise students' knowledge of environmental issues and motivate them to take an active role in enhancing their local communities. The program demonstrates the organizations' dedication to helping kids develop a sense of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
James Michael P. Amrinto, SSC Adviser, officially started the clean-up effort and stressed the value of the activity and the need to keep the area safe and clean. During his introductory remarks, Sir Amrinto gave participants important safety instructions to follow when working in the designated areas and insightful information about the objectives of the clean-up campaign. His remarks helped establish the tone for the day and made sure that everyone involved understood the responsibilities at hand as well as the safety precautions required for an effective and successful cleanup.
Students and volunteers collaborated throughout the day to remove trash and other debris from Tunga-Tunga's streets, showcasing their dedication to having a real influence on their neighborhood. In addition to enhancing the area's visual value, the project encouraged cooperation and camaraderie among its participants. By the conclusion of the day, the clean-up effort proved to be a success, leaving behind cleaner roads and a better sense of environmental responsibility among the students of SLSU Maasin City Campus.
