Strategic planning and efficient communication are essential to the goal of sustainable development. The significance of this was acknowledged by Southern Leyte State University – Maasin City Campus (SLSU MCC), which arranged a Seminar Workshop on Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Material Development and Project Proposal Crafting. The purpose of the event, which took place at Roman Galdo Convention Center (RGCC) Ichon, Macrohon in Southern Leyte last January 09 – 10, 2024, was to improve the project planning and communication techniques of the local communities, thereby empowering them.
Involving participation from several SLSU-MCC offices, departments, and students, the event served as a spark as campus director Dr. Frederick C. Aniga welcomed and expressed gratitude to everyone who took part. Giving participants the knowledge and skills they would need to produce comprehensive Project Proposal Approvals (PPAs) and effective IEC materials was the primary objective of the seminar workshop. Dr. Magdaleno Samaco outlines the goals that must be met during the two-day seminar workshop. "By doing this, the organizers hope to better empower communities to express their concerns, provide workable solutions, and spread awareness of these efforts," he says.
The seminar workshop makes a blast as the topics initiated contribute to the offices’ future engagements in research and extension activities. Crafting on Extension PPAs highlighting research - based activities. IEC Material Development emphasizes the importance of contents on short but precise, techniques on mixing and arranging elements, color selection, font, and even applications to make the material more appealing and interesting, may it be a pamphlet, brochure or a video presentation.
In order to promote community-led development, the SLSU MCC Seminar Workshop on Crafting PPAs and IEC Material Development at Ichon Macrohon, Southern Leyte, was a critical step. The workshop's goal was to ensure that Southern Leyte's communities are better prepared to handle their own issues and contribute to the region's general progress by improving the abilities of local stakeholders. The occasion demonstrated the university's dedication to empowering communities through programs that increase capacity and promote education, it was indeed a wrap for SLSU – MCC as another achievement for better engagements aimed for a transformative motion.
