SLSU Maasin’s Emerging Artist Advances to Regionals: Samantha Angel Samaco Excels in Charcoal Rendering
Southern Leyte State University – Maasin City Campus proudly celebrates the outstanding accomplishment of Ms. Samantha Angel Samaco, who excelled in the Charcoal Rendering Competition during the University Cultural and Arts Festival (U-CAF) 2025 held at SLSU Main Campus. Her remarkable performance did not only earn recognition among fellow artists, but also granted her the opportunity to advance and represent the campus at the Regional Cultural and Arts Festival to be held at Palompon Institute of Technology. This achievement reflects the growing strength of SLSU Maasin’s visual arts community and the dedication of its young creatives.
Ms. Samaco’s talent, discipline, and artistic depth were evident in her charcoal rendering piece—an artwork that captured both emotion and technical mastery. Her ability to bring life, contrast, and storytelling onto a monochrome medium distinguished her from other equally gifted competitors. Charcoal art, known for its complexity in light and shadow manipulation, requires precision, patience, and a keen artistic eye—qualities she demonstrated exceptionally.
Throughout her preparation, Samantha was guided and supported by Visual Arts coach Mr. Nonito A. Deligero Jr., whose mentorship played a significant role in sharpening her skills and nurturing her artistic expression. Their collaborative efforts, combined with Samantha’s commitment, resulted in a performance that resonated strongly with judges and fellow artists.
Her advancement to the Regional Competition marks a significant milestone—both personally and for the Maasin City Campus. As she steps into a larger artistic arena, Samantha carries with her not only her talent but also the pride, hopes, and support of her campus community. The upcoming competition at Palompon Institute of Technology offers her a bigger platform to showcase her creativity, represent SLSU Maasin, and inspire other aspiring artists.
Ms. Samantha Angel Samaco’s success in the Charcoal Rendering category is more than just an individual achievement—it is a testament to the flourishing artistic excellence within SLSU Maasin City Campus. Her progression to the Regional Cultural and Arts Festival serves as an inspiring reminder that passion, dedication, and perseverance pave the way to greater opportunities. As she prepares for the regional stage, the entire SLSU Maasin community stands proudly behind her, confident that she will continue to embody artistry, courage, and the spirit of excellence.
