Southern Leyte State University- Maasin City Campus was thrilled with excitement on February 19, 2024 as it hosted the much-anticipated ‘RESEARCH OLYMPICS’ at Research Innovation, and Extension Services which gathered six teams to compete for recognition.
This Research Olympics served as evidence of the school's dedication in encouraging a culture of creativity and research among its faculty and students. Under the close observation of a determined panel of judges namely Jonathan Palco, Juvenal Sumaya, and Irene Carbonilla, the participants started a joint pursuit of excellence in research. Six teams, each a monument to their commitment and educational rigor, showcased their creative work amid a spirit of academic discussion and intellectual interaction. The covered variety of subjects demonstrated the range of research projects carried out by the brightest brains in the campus, from the specifics of social dynamics to the complexity of environmental sustainability.
After the discussions were concluded, three teams won, and their research projects were praised for their uniqueness, rigor, and prospective significance. The research paper titled ‘Implementation of Person with Disability Program in the Local Government Units of Eastern Visayas’ by Ms. Jussa Padilla, Ms. Analyn Aguelo and Mr. Jhon Michael Pia was recognized as the first place Best Paper and Best Presenters. The research paper titled ‘Level of Stress of Assistance to Individual IM Crisis Situation (AICS) Implementation’ by Mr. Ruver John Caberte, Ms. Queenie Araña and Mr. Melvin Basiao placed second while ‘The Effectiveness of SK Mandatory Training Conducted in the Visayas Region, Philippines’ by Ms. Leonisa Zamora, Ms. Jonalyn Abeñon and Ms. Ma Teresita Paloma placed third. However, all of the participants stood as winners and were unified in their dedication in advancing knowledge and addressing important societal concerns in the collaborative spirit that characterizes research.
