On January 20, 2025, from 8:00 to 11:30 AM Southern Leyte State University - Maasin City Campus held a transformative seminar for parents and Intern Students at the AVR room of SLSU - Maasin City Campus. This event aimed to inspire and prepare students for their upcoming On-the-Job Training (OJT) experience.
The orientation commenced with a warm welcome from Ms. Jussa Padilla and Mr. John Michael Pia, the Masters of Ceremony. Following the opening prayer, the National Anthem, and the Southern Leyte State University Hymn, the event officially began with a welcome address by Ms. Karina Gutierrez. Ms. Gutierrez, a respected member of the school community and a passionate advocate for student success, emphasized the importance of OJT in preparing the Students for their future careers.
Next, Ms. Padilla introduced Ms. Salvacion S. Teng, the OJT Coordinator, who provided an in-depth discussion on the OJT program and the essential steps towards graduation. Ms. Teng outlined the program's guidelines, expectations from partnering agencies, and what students could anticipate during their OJT experience. She also addressed the graduation process and financial matters related to both OJT and graduation, ensuring that both students and parents were well-informed and prepared.
The seminar had been a highly valued platform both for the students and parents to delve deeper into an understanding of the OJT program and its implications in their academics and professional endeavors. The thoughts shared by Ms. Teng empowered students to understand and be sure of themselves throughout the OJT experience, hence giving parents re-assurance of their child's academic progress as well.
