The Kapihan sa SLSU 2025 took place on February 24, 2025, in the Hotel de SLSU, located in, at Southern Leyte State University's Main Campus, Sogod, Southern Leyte. Key university officials, media partners, campus directors, representatives from each of SLSU's six campuses, Federation of Supreme Student Council (FSSC) officers, and student publications were present at the yearly event. The event, which was hosted by Ms. Beverly Ann Isaga, began with patriotic and solemn hymns before Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President, opened the event with a speech, highlighting accomplishments that went above and beyond expectations, Dr. Duarte thanked all of the stakeholders for their combined efforts in furthering SLSU's goals.
The formal unveiling of the SLSU LUPAD (Learning, Unity, Progress, Achievement, and Dynamism), led by Mr. Leo Omamalin, Director of University Planning and Development, was a significant event highlight. By encouraging development, innovation, and sustainability, the program seeks to improve the university's service quality. In his presentation of LUPAD's guiding ideals, objectives, and strategic elements, Mr. Omamalin emphasized the organization's long-term goal of establishing SLSU as a model university for environmental responsibility, professional growth, and academic success. The project promises to improve the university's reputation while making sure it continues to be attentive to the requirements of students and the community, which excited the attendees.
Facilitated by Ms. Claerchille Jhulia C. Robin-Tan, the open forum offered a space for beneficial discussions on a range of matters. President of the FSSC, Hon. Jay Lou Alfarante brought up concerns about student-related matters, including better learning facilities, intellectual property rights, and research funding. Student publications and media partners also asked about SLSU's international collaborations, budgetary allocations, competitiveness, and plans for future growth. These questions were enthusiastically answered by university representatives and campus directors, who impressed guests with their dedication to openness and ongoing improvement. In her closing remarks, Dr. Eda J. Opina, Director of PASCom, Sports Development, and Cultural Affairs, emphasized SLSU's responsibility in generating elite professionals for the country and served as a potent reminder of the university's shared purpose. A fellowship lunch marked the end of the session, encouraging more cooperation and solidifying bonds between attendees.
