SLSU-Maasin City Campus Joins the 3-Day Seminar-Workshop on Reorienting the General Education Curriculum: Reaffirming the Promise of CMO 20, s.2013 in Advancing Transformative Education at SLSU
SLSU-Maasin City Campus General Education faculty members attended the three-day seminar-workshop on “Reorienting the General Education Curriculum: Reaffirming the Promise of CMO 20, s.2013 in Advancing Transformative Education at SLSU” which was held last October 16-18, 2025 at SLSU-Main Campus. Gearing towards SDG 4- Quality Education, this seminar-workshop aimed to reorient the philosophy and implications of Outcomes-Based Curriculum in its implementation in the General Education courses.
With the expertise of Dr. Greg Pawilen, who served as the resource speaker of the said seminar, the participants were reoriented on the fundamental purpose of GE courses which is not only to develop knowledgeable and competent graduates in a particular field, but also well‑rounded individuals who appreciate knowledge in a general sense, are open‑minded, and cognizant of their role in the life of the nation and the larger community. In the rapidly evolving global landscape of higher education, institutions are challenged to revisit the purpose, structure, and outcomes of their curricula; hence the significance of the said activity.
