Kingfishers Marks Student’s Day; Hails Student of the Year at GANTI 2025
Maasin City, Southern Leyte—Not even the gloomy weather could lessen the vibrant spirit of Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus as they reward students an academic break through celebrating Students Day 2025, entitled ‘Leisure League: Where Fun Leads in’ on the 19th of November 2025.
A warm welcome greeted the students as the affair opens at 7:30 in the morning, which took place in SLSU-MCC Quadrangle.
Supreme Student Council (SSC) Vice-President, Hon. Merry Genesis G. Cantones opens the said program. She emphasized the importance of this event— to be an avenue for students to pause, breathe, and live the moment amidst academic responsibilities during her opening speech.
This affair features different booths for students to enjoy and spend their leisure time for free. This includes the Movie Booth where students can watch their preferred genre of movies; Karaoke Booth for students who loves to unleash their inner diva; Campus Nook, a cozy corner for students to relax and play a little board games.
Excitement rises as the celebration progressed until the evening— the awards night where deserving students who leads with passion or transformed in inspiring ways; dubbed as Greatest Award and Notable Transformation Istudyanti (GANTI) 2025.
Themed, “Rodeo Runway,” students were clad in wild west vibing outfits— setting this evening’s mood of celebration.
This served as a night of pride, recognition, and legacy as nominated students vie for the following awards: Sportsperson of the Year, Student Artist of the Year, Student Community Contributor Award, Best Devotion to School Award, and the Grand Prize— the Student of the Year.

This was followed by showcase of talents from SLSU-MCC students— Headlined by University Culture and Arts Festival (UCAF) 2025 delegates.
SLSU-MCC Mighty Kingfishers continues to soar higher towards excellence. This night solidifies how this institution has molded these young people to achieve the best of their abilities.
This is indeed a day of our dear students— celebrating differences and striving amidst adversity.
