Maasin City, Southern Leyte — The Social Work Department of Southern Leyte State University - Maasin City Campus held its much-anticipated Field Instruction (FI) Exit Conference on May 14, 2025, at the PE Hall, SLSU MCC, Tunga-Tunga, Maasin City, Southern Leyte. The event gathered 60 social work interns, faculty members, and representatives from partner agencies to mark the culmination of the Field Instruction 2 program.
The Exit Conference served as a platform for reflection and celebration, as the interns shared heartfelt testimonies about their learnings, challenges, and personal growth throughout their internship journey. Their stories highlighted the realities of social work practice in diverse settings and underscored the significance of field education in shaping compassionate and competent future social workers. Faculty members expressed pride in the interns’ accomplishments and emphasized the value of the knowledge and experiences they have gained.
Adding depth to the event, partner agencies offered inspiring messages of support and encouragement, recognizing the interns’ efforts and commitment during their placements. They also reaffirmed their continued partnership with the university in honing the next generation of social work professionals. The conference concluded on a hopeful note, with everyone looking forward to the interns' next chapter as they move closer to becoming registered social workers dedicated to meaningful change in society.
