Southern Leyte State University – Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) actively participated in the1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2025 on March 17, 2025, reaffirming its commitment to disaster preparedness and safety.
At exactly 3:00 PM, students, faculty, and staff performed the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure as the drill commenced. The activity aimed to assess the campus’s emergency response capabilities, ensuring that all individuals are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively in the event of a real earthquake.
The drill was conducted in coordination with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other emergency response teams. Participants were guided through evacuation procedures, first aid demonstrations, and search-and-rescue techniques, enhancing their preparedness and resilience against potential disasters.
Through this initiative, SLSU-MCC continues to foster a culture of safety, preparedness, and disaster resilience within the campus community. The university remains committed to supporting nationwide efforts in strengthening disaster response and ensuring the safety of its students and personnel.
