Maasin City, Southern Leyte – August 20, 2025 – In a proactive move to ensure the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff, the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) – Maasin Campus successfully removed hazardous canopy structures and deteriorating posts located near the campus premises. This initiative was led by Campus Director Sir Frederick C. Aniga, with the strong support of Administrative Officer V Ma’am Madonna Grace Jacobe and Safety Officer Sir Jomel Aguelo.
For several months, the aging canopy and unstable posts posed a significant safety risk to individuals within the campus grounds. Recognizing the urgent need for action, the SLSU Maasin Campus leadership sought assistance from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Maasin City.
Thanks to the unwavering support of Maasin City’s ever-committed Mayor Luz Mercado, OGS Head Ma’am Judy Arbiol, and the generous contribution of Mr. Tito Gonzales Roxas, the removal and repair work was efficiently carried out. The collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to public safety and community welfare.
