Early on today, August 8, 2025, Southern Leyte State University - Maasin City Campus buzzed with collective energy as faculty, staff, and members of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) joined forces for "Brigada Ahensya." This day's activity served as a preparatory step for the highly anticipated opening of classes for the academic year 2025 - 2026, scheduled for August 11, 2025. The initiative underscored the university's commitment to providing a conducive and welcoming learning environment for its students.
Participants were seen actively engaged in various tasks aimed at sprucing up the campus. Classrooms were thoroughly cleaned and organized, with desks and chairs cleaned and arranged neatly. Landscaping efforts were evident throughout the grounds, as the Social Work and Public Administration faculties, together with the campus staff worked hand-in-hand to trim bushes, eliminate wastes and debris, sweep pathways and floors, and ensure the overall tidiness of the campus.
The Supreme Student Council played a significant role in the success of Brigada Ahensya, as they actively participated in the cleanup drives, demonstrating leadership and a strong sense of ownership over the campus environment. Their involvement highlighted the importance of student engagement in maintaining a vibrant and functional campus community. This collaborative effort between the administration, faculty, staff, and the student body reflects a unified dedication to academic excellence and student welfare in the campus.
As the Brigada Ahensya concluded, a noticeable transformation was evident across the campus.
