For Mr. Cyl Angelo Basilad and Ms. Jasmine Jurban, representing the SLSU Maasin City Campus in the Search for Mr. and Ms. SLSU 2025 was a journey filled with challenges, perseverance, and personal growth. The path to the grand stage was anything but easy, involving grueling training sessions and the pressure to perfect every performance. Endless hours of rehearsals, strict discipline in fitness and posture, and the mental battle against self-doubt were among the struggles they faced. However, the unwavering support from the faculty and staff of SLSU Maasin City Campus, along with their families, kept them motivated. Their mentors and loved ones continuously reminded them of their strengths and potential, turning every hardship into a learning experience and every moment of exhaustion into a step closer to excellence.
During both the preliminaries and coronation night, nerves and doubts resurfaced, but the roaring cheers from the MCC family ignited their passion and dedication. The overwhelming support from their home campus reminded them that they were not just competing for themselves, but also for the pride of the SLSU Maasin City Campus. Each round—from the production number to the question-and-answer segment—became a testament to their resilience and commitment to representing their campus with honor. Despite the intense pressure of the competition, they found solace in the encouragement of their mentors, particularly Mr. Aris Rex Espinas, the Sports and Cultural Coordinator of SLSU MCC. His belief in their potential and guidance throughout the journey became a source of motivation, helping them push beyond their limits and embrace this transformational, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Although the coveted crowns may not have been theirs this time, Cyl and Jasmine feel nothing but gratitude for the incredible opportunity to showcase their talents and represent the SLSU Maasin City Campus on such a prestigious platform. Their journey was not just about the competition; it was about growth, perseverance, and the unwavering support that fueled their confidence. They extend their deepest thanks to everyone who stood by them, demonstrating that while victory is rewarding, the true essence of the experience lies in the journey itself. With hearts full of gratitude and newfound strength, they walk away from the pageant not just as candidates, but as inspirations to future representatives who dare to dream and rise above challenges.
