SLSU Maasin City Campus Celebrates Success of 2025 Social Work Board Passers
The Southern Leyte State University – Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) proudly recognized its 73 newly licensed social workers during the Recognition Ceremony for Social Work Licensure Examination Passers 2025 held on October 21, 2025, at the SLSU-MCC Quadrangle. The event celebrated the outstanding achievement of the passers who brought prestige to the university with an impressive 97.33% passing rate and four topnotchers among them.
The ceremony began with a motorcade around the city, symbolizing the pride and success of the new social workers. It was followed by a thanksgiving prayer led by Rev. Daniel Abogado Jr. Campus Director Dr. Frederick C. Aniga formally opened the program with a warm welcome message, expressing gratitude and pride in the alumni’s success that brought honor to the university. Maasin City Mayor Hon. Luz V. Mercado delivered an inspiring message, commending the passers and topnotchers for their remarkable achievement. She reminded them to embody the essence of social work by serving people with compassion and integrity. Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Constantino Medilo Jr. also shared words of commendation for both the passers and the social work faculty, emphasizing their collective effort in producing highly capable and service-oriented professionals. The program featured an intermission number by the JSWAP officers, followed by the message of University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte, who lauded the department’s remarkable feat. He recognized SLSU-MCC’s exceptional performance, surpassing expectations, and rewarded the passers with cash incentives as a token of the university’s appreciation. Social Work Department Head Ms. Elmee Joy D. Oraiz led the awarding of certificates and recognition of the topnotchers. One of them, Mae Ann Olita, expressed gratitude to the university, mentors, and parents for their unwavering guidance and support. A heartfelt tribute video and song presentation prepared by selected social work students added emotion to the event.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Faculty Dean Ms. Karina Gutierrez, who extended her pride and appreciation to the passers for bringing honor to the campus and the entire SLSU. The 2025 Recognition Ceremony not only celebrated academic success but also reaffirmed SLSU-MCC’s commitment to molding compassionate and competent social workers ready to serve society with excellence and dedication.
