Since their debut on June 11, 2021, BINI has soared to new heights, making history as the first P-Pop act to perform at KCON LA. "Got to push harder; the failures only made me strong," reflects the group’s perseverance. The challenges they've faced have culminated in this momentous milestone, bringing Pinoy pride to the international stage.
The girl group, managed by Star Magic, a division of ABS-CBN Corporation, rose to stardom with the release of their single "Pantropiko" in late 2023. BINI's fandom, known as Blooms, grew exponentially following the release of their Extended Play (EP), which featured viral TikTok hits like "Salamin, Salamin” and “Karera.”
It’s not the first time the girl group has brought Pinoy Pride to the international scene, as the group had already appeared on a Chinese Reality Program alongside fellow P-Pop girl group G22. They showcased their performances of "Karera,” “I Feel Good,” and "Pantropiko" in episodes that aired on April 25 and May 2. Bini also recently had their first solo concert, Biniverse, held at the New Frontier Theater, and due to high demand as fans called out on SNS, the event got extended from June 28–30.
The nation’s girl group even went higher by taking a new leap as they were set to perform at KCON LA alongside other K-Pop acts like Enhypen, Nmixx, Tws, and many more. BINI performed their recent new single, titled “Cherry on Top,” at KCON LA; however, BINI’s leader, Jhoanna, could not attend and perform together with the other BINI members due to health concerns. ABS-CBN recently released a statement, quoting that “the pop group leader [Jhoanna] was being monitored closely and recovering well.”
This is just the beginning, not only for BINI but for P-Pop as a musical genre as it escalates into emerging into the international music scene. Together, let’s support other P-Pop and OPM artists until P-Pop transcends to a global level.
