DESTINED ENCOUNTERS
Sury Pullat introspects on the current topics of development, vis-a-vis education, and all those issues that matter to youth to make a living. Divisiveness of spirituality and religions is dwelled into in-depth, coming up with suggestions for harmonious living, focusing on greater common good. Societal transformation through multiple revolutions is portrayed.
In his debut novel DESTINED ENCOUNTERS, he traces yearning voyage of five characters Baig, Crised, Dastur, Ingrid and Risto who pass through the University of Realisation and their lives thereafter. Their trysts with destiny and each other at turning points in their lives and at particular cities in the world, offer ideas and answers for new generation to maneuver in troubled world held hostage by society, religion and politics.
Destined Encounters is a ‘novel’ novel by the debutant author spanning current lifetimes to impart realistic appeal. Essentially, it is written to motivate youth to drive change for greater common good, overcoming the prevalent practices, prejudices and phobias.
Five international characters are endowed with very special and specific traits to carry the burden of responsibility to learn, bear, realize, disseminate and drive changes across all social spheres of humanity including spirituality, religions, politics etc. The storyline traces their life from joining University of Realisation through their education, enlightenment, life and living, culminating in causing and driving desirable drastic changes across the globe in a short period. Non-violence is the method chosen and networking across the globally flattened world with modern communications is the means.
There are speeches and addresses by visiting dignitaries at the varsity laying good foundations for character building through formative and impressionable years. Essays and verses in the college magazine instill and imbue the right thoughts, values and spirits to carry forward, to live with and impart to others. A five act play covering ideologies and philosophies, tops up the transformational efforts to understand religions identifying their lowest common denominators of common threads. Karma evolves as an essential element under secular view of philosophical pursuits.
Findings supported by relevant quotes and inferences from all religions, their dogma, tenets and practices to live in harmony are well evidenced, concluding that god if any, is only one and a figment of creative imagination. Giving science a chance to go along and question, this maiden effort sets a new trend and in many ways betters current available collations. Narration, description, dialogues, conversation etc are well used to convey and explain the idea behind the work, with the author taken to task through an inquisition too! Thus literary value of the work is laid out and developed to leave behind lasting impressions. The multi style content and approach, seems to give the book an allure of makings of a classic.
The names of the five personalities Baig, Crised, Dastur, Ingrid and Risto from varied parts of the world denote intercontinental connectivity to multi-faiths. Suspense –for readers as well as actors themselves- is maintained by revealing their backgrounds much later in the book. They meet in different parts of the world during the course of their lives, exchange notes and realize the common purpose, visions and goals as if driven by hidden hands of unknown forces using them to serve timeous purposes.
Thriller of a Jihad takes the book to a newer plane. A mini revolution in a small country is successfully carried out to test and prepare the ground work for the ultimate one. Efforts in bringing together religious leaders and their views closer, is portrayed through meetings in Gulf, Athens, Istanbul, Rome etc. It is capped up with a climax of a Varanasi ghat bath by dignitaries -Satan trying his dirty tricks also. Such built up pace is carried forward to complete the book with a revolution in the subcontinent, correcting anomalies of many of the socio-political debacles of the last century. The last few pages explain in detail the need and reasons justifying such paradigm shifts for taking the youth into confidence for the mission in hand envisaged to be undertaken by them sooner than later.
