Always improving. The Citation Bar pulls live data from many sources — PubMed/NLM, NIH iCite, Semantic Scholar, Altmetric, OpenAlex, CrossRef, and more — and these services change constantly: formats shift, rate limits tighten, and outages happen. Ongoing work goes into keeping every connection healthy and the bar fast. If something looks off, it is often a temporary upstream issue: refresh the page, or use the Reset Extension button in the popup. Updates ship regularly with fixes and optimizations.
What the bar gives you. On every PubMed result: citation counts with Relative Citation Ratio (NIH iCite), Influential Citations (Semantic Scholar), Altmetric attention scores, and journal quality via SJR plus a curated top-journal list — all rolled into an Impact Score with high-impact filtering, including Scan 1,000 across a full result set. One-click access to the abstract, similar articles, citing articles, Google Scholar, full text and free PDFs, author information, and detailed citation reports. The term-analysis tool helps you compare search-term variations and build stronger queries.
New: Connections, powered by doilookup.com. The new -Con- link opens an interactive citation graph for any article with a DOI. See what a paper cites, what cites it, or both at once — with papers color-coded by journal quality and tagged when free full text is available. Click any paper for its details and abstract, re-center the graph on it, or run a multi-level expansion to surface the foundational works behind a topic. Hover -Con- for a preview, click to explore. The doi link also provides a full DOI lookup at doilookup.com.
Note: I have other Misc notes and pages here, many are old, my focus is on the tools, and hopefully at some point I can update my notes and extra pages.
