"Her Scars of Eternity"
by Khadija Naveed and Daanyaal Ali Javed
Locked up,
Looking outside a curtain,
Why does she bear the burden?
Is this marriage?
The sufferings of a miss carriage?
Is this her life?
The urge to slice her skin with a knife?
Every day,
The scars fade away
She is left with no recognition.
The only thing he has left her with are lifelong scars,
Right where her weaknesses are.
But today, she has powered through all the beatings.
She is done feeling helpless and waking up sleepless.
She sticks out her chin,
She grins,
As the empowered woman she was meant to be,
Emerging victorious,
And free.
