Auditions
SPRING 2024 AUDITIONS
SPRING 2024 AUDITIONS HAVE CLOSED. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES.
How it works
Like most collegiate A Cappella groups, we audition based on necessity. If/when a member is not returning to the group, we hold auditions to fill that spot. This means that auditions may not take place every year.
Audition requirements
Solo:
Singers are required to perform a 32-bar cut (or around 90 seconds) of a contemporary solo of their choosing. Don't just pick your favorite song- this solo should be able to demonstrate your ability as a singer and musician. Think pop- songs you'd hear on the radio! Even if you aren't auditioning with the intent to perform as a soloist, we still want to hear your individual skill, potential, and talent!
Sight reading:
Singers will be asked to vocalize 8 bars of moderate-difficulty sight reading excerpt. Don't panic-- this is not a make-or-break on your audition, it's simply a way to get a feel for your musicality with an unfamiliar piece.
Note Identification:
Singers will be asked to identify roots, thirds, or fifths of various chords.
Callbacks
Some singers will be contacted ti return for a callback. Unlike auditions, the entire group will be present in order to hear how your individual voice blends in with our specific sound.
