Sarah Attia is a mother, educator and community activist. Sarah is a graduate of The University of Toronto, Faculty of Engineering, holding a bachelor and a master degree in chemical engineering. Sarah spent over 10 years working on providing quality international education to children in Egypt as a principal, teacher, and founder of an international school in Cairo, Egypt. She has a particular interest in curriculum development, character education, and community contribution. She is currently the lead of MAC iRISE, where she oversees character education curricula and programs for MAC Islamic Schools. Sarah has always had a passion for working with young people and also currently serves as the Director of Youth for MAC.
Reem Sultan is a pharmacist by profession, married and mother to four children. She is pursuing Islamic studies and working towards memorizing the Holy Quran. She began her Islamic activism with the MSA, and then joined MAC in 2003 and has been a mentor since 2007. Sr. Reem loves swimming, aerobic exercising, and travelling.
Dr. Jasser Auda is an Egyptian scholar of Islamic thought with a specific emphasis on the higher purposes (maqasid) of the Islamic jurisprudence. He carries a PhD in the philosophy of Islamic law from the University of Wales, UK, and a PhD in systems analysis from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Auda has had a global presence in the teaching of Islamic Studies and Sharia Law both as a professor and as a guest lecturer in dozens of countries around the world including Canada, Qatar, Serbia and South Africa.
He is a founding and board member of the International Union for Muslim Scholars, an executive member of the Fiqh Council of North America, a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, and a fellow at the Fiqh Academy of India. He is also Chair for Maqasid Studies at the International Peace University in South Africa.
Mourad M'Hiri
Sharaf Sharafeldin is a husband, father and a leading community organizer. He is among the founding generation and pioneers who shaped the Islamic work in Canada. As a founding member of the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC), he has been a part of the organization from its inception and currently, he serves as the Executive Director. Under his leadership, the organization grew to become the largest Muslim organization in the country. He is an engineer by profession and completed his MBA from the University of Ottawa. He lives in Mississauga, Ontario and is a proud father of 4 children.
Khaled Sultan is an Investment Advisor and Portfolio Manager, with specialization Islamic Finance.
His qualifications include undergraduate degrees in Engineering and Computer Science from Western University, as well as an MBA from the University of Toronto. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and P.Eng. designations. He is also certified as a life coach, a lifeguard and a swim instructor.
Khaled currently sits on the boards of a number of charitable organizations including the London Community Foundation, Merrymount Children's Centre, and the World Parkinson's Program. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Muslim Association of Canada as head of the Youth Department, as well as the Board of Directors of MAC.
Khaled has been engaged in non-profit activism for more than 20 years. He frequently provides training across the country to the youth as well as executives of non-profit organizations. He specializes on the areas of life skills, optimization, personal development, and Islamic Finance.
Khaled is married to the love of his life, Asma, and has four children, Noor, Jena, Muhammad, and Leen.
Dr. Wael Haddara is the medical director of the surgical intensive-care unit at University Hospital and teaches at Western University in London, Ontario. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Muslim Association of Canada. Dr. Haddara’s interests include Middle Eastern politics and Islamic issues.
Khaled Al-Qazzaz is an educator, philanthropist, and a human rights activist. He graduated from as a Mechanical Engineer and is a former school director. He is married to Sarah Attia, and together they have 4 children.
Presently, Khaled is working actively on the development of his foundation, the Al-Qazzaz Foundation for Education and Development, through which he hopes to give back to Canada and the world. The foundation will focus on delivering services and support to disadvantaged communities through innovative online technologies.
Mahdi Tirkawi is the imam at Mosquée Al Rawdah in Montreal.
Ayman Elkasrawy is an assistant imam at Masjid Toronto and a PhD candidate in electrical engineering at Ryerson University.
