Guruji Pt. Satya Narayan Singhji took his initial training in Music at Gupta Sangeetalalya, Varanasi. During these years he was enchanted and obsessed by the Patiala Gharana. He first became a disciple of Pandit Kundanlalji Sharma of the Patiala Gharana.
Subsequently he became a disciple of Late Ustad Abdul Rehman Khansaheb of the Patiala Gharana and learnt from Khansaheb Classical Music as well as Light Classical Music. He also studied Light Classical Music from Late Ustad Bashir Khan of Lucknow.
He has performed classical vocal at various eminent platforms across India in late 1950's -early 1960's and shared stages with maestros like Ustad Allarakha Khan of Punjab Gharana (Zakir Hussain's Father), Ustad Imrat Khan-Sitar,Pt. Hanuman Mishraji of Benaras Gharana (Father of Pt.Rajan Sajan Mishra), Samta Prasad and many more.
Late Guruji Pt. Satya Narayan Singhji had founded an institution known as “Sat Swar Mandir” and was the heart and soul of this institution. The institution was renamed after him and is now known as “Pt. Satya Narayan Singh Music Academy”.
Guruji had, over the years made sincere efforts to promote and enrich our cultural heritage of Indian Music. Guruji had molded many artists in Indian and Light Classical Music.
